Scales

The Scales are divided into five groups:

  • Major scales (major modes + major pentatonic)
  • Minor scales (minor variants + minor modes + minor pentatonik)
  • Modes of the melodic minor scale
  • Symmetrical scales (wholetone, diminished, dominant-diminished)
  • Custom Scales

Tip:
If you don't know a scale, simply start the interval test and select the scale from the “Set” popup. Eartraining will mark all intervals of that scale. Please note that e.g. an augmented second will be displayed as a minor third, though.

The “harmonic” direction is not available for scales. If that direction is selected when starting the scale test, you will see a message and the direction will be automatically set to “ascending”.
