Estimates Overview

As its name implies, the Estimate module allows you to create estimates that can be printed out and given to a client/prospective client.

Once created, an Estimate has three possible states. It can be either "Open", "Invoiced", or "Void". As long as an Estimate's state remains "Open", it can continue to be modified. You can add items, determine quantity, add discounts, modify descriptions, and add comments to items associated with an Estimate.

Once you are satisfied that the Estimate has all required information, you can then Invoice, Save, Print, or create a new Estimate. If you press the "New" button prior to saving your Estimate, you will be presented with a dialog box asking if you want to save before proceeding. If you decide not to save, all information on the Estimate screen will be cleared, allowing you to reenter whatever information you choose. If you choose to convert an Estimate into an Invoice, SimpleBooks will automatically save the Estimate and copy all Estimate data onto the Invoice screen.

Once an Estimate has been converted to an Invoice, and its status set to "Invoiced", it can no longer be edited or changed. The same is true if an Estimate is voided.
